Neckarstaden 66, Heidelberg
Typical tourist bar. Very rustic furnishings. A huge selection of all kinds of dishes. I recommend booking in advance as it is always well attended. Magnificent view of the old bridge and the Neckar (outside). Parking spaces are extremely rare. Long distances to the surrounding parking garages.
Delicious food, super nice owners and top prices 😊 greetings from Christoph's friends in Stuttgart.
Delicious food, very friendly service and a quaint ambience. The location directly from the Old Bridge impresses locals and tourists alike
I like it very much. I think it's a good idea that I went to the restaurant with my mother.
Unfortunately, my partner and I didn't get a table outside on the terrace, but inside we sat in the aisle. Still a nice restaurant with good food and very nice service. We prefer to reserve for next time.
My family was very impressed by the warm hospitality of the owner (Maria) and their tasty food. The food serving size was generous, while the german food could be 'heavy', the freshly made greek salad balanced it perfectly. We ended up going there twice and it was next to the hotel we stayed. Wonderful memory and thank you Maria!
We were guests here and felt very comfortable. The food was delicious. We can only recommend the Wirtshaus zum Spreisel. PS: The quince jelly was very tasty. 😋😉
The inn has been run by a family for over 40 years. Every time you visit Heidelberg, eating out at the Spreisel is part of it. I have never seen such a menu in any other restaurant. It's not a map, it's a book. All dishes were freshly prepared, the food is very plentiful, good and inexpensive.
Super tasty, super nice service, super tasty beer. So if you land in Heidelberg and want really nice food, you should stop here 👍🏻
It was a year ago that I was at this tavern but I'm planning my post-covid return and wanted to make sure I hit this spot again. The tavern is very homey and comfortable. The staff (I believe an owner) was wonderful and warm. I ordered all of the unusual things on the menu. Goose fat spread on fresh bread, pork shank slow cooked on the bone with brown sauce and sauerkraut. My travel partner ordered grilled chicken and fried potatoes. It was really solid home cooking. The service was terrific. The wine was wonderful as well (picked by our service staff). I plan on going back. I would recommend anyone visiting to stop in for a bite. Great ambiance, food and service.
Delicious, fair prized local specialties as well as a few Greek dishes can be found in this cozy restaurant. I would recommend to reserve a table ahead of time.
Great food, it couldn't be better. Big portions ... just awesome..we'll be back !!!!
Have just eaten here and I'm very satisfied. Delicious. All right. Really great recommendation! Very nice service
We were immediately given space on the large outdoor terrace. The menus are already something special: where do the innkeepers write them by hand? The portions are big, tasty and the prices are very good. The two hosts Maria and Peter manage the business alone with their kitchen fairies. There were no waiting times. Excellent! Thank you for the lovely evening.
We spontaneously got a seat on the large terrace. The operation is brisk and direct, but I can handle it well. All dishes, including the dessert, were good and the portions generous. Price performance fits 👍
The Wirtshaus zum Spreisel inspires as soon as you enter. Due to the wooden vault and the rustic corner seats with the old tiled stove, it really invites you to stay longer. The handwritten menu offers something for every taste. I ate the rump steak, which was fried to the point, exactly as I ordered. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. In summary, the Wirthaus zum Spreisel offers a very extensive range with excellent cuisine. The great ambience invites you to linger longer with a glass of wine or a beer. It is definitely worth visiting again next time you visit Heidelberg.!
The "Wirtshaus zum Spreisel" with the hosts Maria and Peter Überle is an institution in the Electoral Palatinate. Located directly on the "Old Bridge" in Heidelberg, it is not just a great location. The food is perfect, the service great!
We hadn't made a reservation - we got a table anyway, even though everything was full. The food was excellent, very good German cuisine. You could clearly see that everything was freshly prepared. The quality of the food was excellent, at a very reasonable price and in a great atmosphere. Should we visit Heidelberg again, we will be very happy to come back.
Incredibly delicious food and large portions for reasonable prices. The restaurant is in a very nice location, when the weather is good you can sit outside and have a beautiful view of the old bridge and the Neckar. The service is very friendly and courteous. Everything is really right here - 5 stars!
The food was mostly delicious (good to very good), but the children's pasta was not for little ones (tomato sauce too peppery and wide ribbon pasta, which are difficult to handle). The tone of the female waitress was rather perch, but not unfriendly.
Very tasty and typical German food. Great variety and generous portions. The cellar beer is particularly recommended. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, is in one of the most beautiful places in Heidelberg and Maria served us very lovingly. Easy to recommend !!!
We enjoyed dinner here on a Friday night and the food is easily described as some the best German food I’ve ever had. The Perlhuhn with sauerkraut, bacon, grapes and walnuts is amazing. The setting is cosy, old and authentic. Portions are quite big and the price is low. If you have one evening like us and you’re looking for German Food this is The Place to go.
This was my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg! The food was so delicious and the staff was super friendly! The restaurant has both an English and German menu, so if your German is rusty (like mine) ask the host. Also, the beer from the restaurant is SO good! We ordered sausage and Rouladen that was absolutely perfect.
Super cool place great authentic food, German menus are hand written
Do yourself a favor and eat at Zum Spreisel! This place is SO good! It was my favor place in Heidelberg and it is right by the bridge. If your German is bad like mine, ask the host for an English menu. We ordered sausage, Rouladen, and potatoes. Seriously, stop here!
The (German) menu is very nicely done but also very thick - there's only a single dish on every page, nicely written and decorated, and quite a big number of dishes. Anyway, I got the Hirsch Gulasch (deer goulash), a seasonal offering, and it was perfect. Service was friendly and efficient as well. The restaurant itself feels like a traditional country inn. Bonus points for finding a table for a single traveler even though it was a very busy Saturday evening.
Great food
Amazing place! The food was super delicious and a very decent portion. Prices are as expected considering quality and quantity. The waiters are very friendly and speak English. Would definitely go again!
Delicious steak and good beer. What more do you want
Simply the Best in good old Heidelberg!!!
Frau Maria was awesome, great banter and delicious food, no wonder she's so fat!! 😂
A very good place. Nice service and excellent food.
Great place
Very good Steak, but rest of the dish was sadly oversalted.
Food is really good and the resturant is so nice. Maria and Peter the owners are always present and make your evening really enjoyable.
Great Atmosphere! Great Food!
All excellent at Zum Spreisel. A very long menu (which is not always good), but everything that was made was very good. I had a steak with prawns and found it delicious. I also ate a local dessert that, despite being 'heavy', was very good (you can share it with a friend). The service is good and very attentive. Good variety of beer, good indoor environment. It is next to the 'old' bridge, so they are close to other attractions. Definitely a place to visit again.
Average German food in a tourist trap setting. Not too expensive. Not really recommended.
Having been several times, I find it to be a better experience when it's not summer time when lot's of tourists are in the area. If you can go in spring or early fall, get a table outside and enjoy some wonderful beer and dishes. It's a great place to catch up with colleagues with a view of the bridge and scenery on the other side of the river.
We had a table booked at 20:00, and we didn't get any food until 21:15. Food was ok but not worth it to wait that long.
Nice location and terrace nearby Old Bridge. As far as food, it is OK but not tasty and recipes are very basic for price. Portions are huge thus 1 dish can fit 2.
A bit expensive, but of course worth it! It took a long time because there were a lot of people, but everything else was very perfect. Cellar beer tastes great, probably the best of my life so far. Schnitzel is great too and isn't salty, served with the perfect salad. If you want to find a good restaurant in Heidelberg, “Zum Spreisel” is definitely my recommendation.
Excellent food with a lot of choices
Very tasty food, very nice ambience and a menu that corresponds to a real inn. The food was more than sufficient and tasty. The staff were very nice. But you should reserve here if you want to eat here. Price performance is absolutely fine.
Mmmm.... tasty. I wouldn’t say you have a super view because the bridge is under construction. Vegetarian options were tasty. I got the eggs and potatoes :)
My newlywed and I were on our honeymoon and we visited two of the really great brauerei in Heidelberg beforehand. We had been walking for a while and saw a place that got pretty good reviews. We decided we would stop in to use the restroom and have a few more drinks and a coffee since it seemed like a nice place. We went to the restaurant and as soon as I left the restroom while waiting for my new bride to leave the restroom, I got confronted for being a tourist and was explained that this was not a “common restroom”. I told them that we were looking for a place to have a few nice drinks and sat down. We ordered two kellerbiers and received them. The beers were great! (Which is why this should get 1 star instead of 0 stars). We don’t speak German and after hearing 5 or 6 times the owners or employees in the restaurants speaking loudly about “tourists” and laughing, we knew we would not be served anything more. We did want another beer and coffee to end the night, but decided to go elsewhere. It seems this place doesn’t cater to “tourists”. It seemed like a great place, but we would never go back for feeling out of place.
Great environment. Friendly host.
Nasty service, mean people.
Great food
Always a favorite! Big menu of regional and Alsatian dishes and very friendly service. Great atmosphere!
